Arusha
Arusha is the safari capital of East Africa and the gateway to Tanzania's northern circuit. Sitting at 1,400 metres on the slopes of Mount Meru — Africa's fifth highest peak — the city has a pleasant year-round climate and a lively mix of cultures. Most northern Tanzania safaris begin and end here, and the town itself offers excellent markets, restaurants, and cultural experiences. The nearby Arusha National Park provides accessible game viewing and guided walks in the shadow of Mount Meru.
