Nyerere National Park

Nyerere National Park — formerly the Selous Game Reserve — is Africa's largest national park and one of its wildest, most remote safari destinations. Covering over 30,000 square kilometers of miombo woodland, floodplains, and waterways, it supports extraordinary concentrations of elephants, hippos, crocodiles, wild dogs, and lions. Unlike the northern circuit parks, Nyerere remains largely free of tourist crowds, offering a genuinely off-the-beaten-path experience. Boat safaris along the Rufiji River are among the most distinctive wildlife experiences in East Africa.
